A bomb dropped by a Nigerian Air Force jet has left many villagers feared dead in Tudun Biri, a community in the Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

The incident occurred during a maulud celebration, with preliminary reports suggesting that around 30 lives were lost on Sunday at 9 pm, according to Daily Trust.

Eyewitnesses revealed the bomb struck as villagers gathered to commemorate Maulud, the birth of Prophet Muhammad. A resident lamented that more than 30 people lost their lives instantly in the tragic incident, turning a joyous occasion into a scene of sorrow and devastation.

Despite the gravity of the situation, the Commissioner of the State Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, did not disclose casualty figures but announced a forthcoming press conference at the Government House.

He indicated that the government would address the media after a security meeting, leaving the public in anticipation of official statements, however.

In addition, the Nigerian Air Force has not issued any statement regarding the incident, leaving many questions unanswered and the community in mourning.

Meanwhile, former lawmaker Senator Shehu Sani has brought the attention of the public to the devastating incident, emphasising the need for clarification and tagging the Nigerian Air Force and the Defence Headquarters Nigeria on his Twitter handle @ShehuSani.

His post translated to a grim reality: scores of people killed during an aerial bombardment while celebrating a religious festival near the Kaduna Airport.

The aftermath of this tragic event raises concerns about accountability, transparency, and the devastating impact of military operations on civilian populations.
