Nigerian Military Neutralises Terrorists’ Attack In Yobe, Rescue Abductees

Security analyst and Counter insurgency expert, Zagazola has narrated on micro-blogging platform “X”, how the Nigerian army neutralized a group of alleged terrorists and rescued some abducted victims in Yobe state. 

According to the report he published on his platform, the victims, who were passengers and commuters, were kidnapped by bandits riding tricycles and motorcycles on February, 16, 2024  near Yobe state college of Agriculture along the road to Buni Yadi.

Following that, military troops were immediately dispatched to go after them and rescue the victims.

It was stated that after a pursuit, 2 women including children were rescued in an abandoned vehicle.

The troops also succeeded in gunning down 4 terrorists as well as recovering a tricycle and some stolen food items. 

The report read: “The team first caught up with one of the hijacked vehicles, a green Volkswagen Golf car with registration number BBU 353 HD with two female passengers and some children which was abandoned during a hot pursuit by the military patrol team.

It was reported that the rescued victims were taken to safety, the Army continued its pursuit of the terrorists.

“The hot chase by the troops yielded positive results when they caught up with the terrorists near Lamisuri village in Gujba LGA where firefight ensued. 

Recovered food items

“During the encounter, the team killed four members of the terrorists  and recovered one tricycle with some stolen food items while some of the terrorists were believed to have escaped from the scene with degrees of gunshot wounds.

“The remaining two hijacked vehicles were however not found at the scene of the encounter but tracks of moving vehicles were observed heading towards Meleri community near Goniri village.

“The team followed up again on the track until they arrived at Meleri village where they were reliably informed that they sighted two other vehicles, a golf and a Honda car believed to have escaped with their passengers from the scene of the troops’ earlier encounter with the terrorists at Lamisuri village. 

“It was further gathered that one of the vehicles headed towards Buni Yadi while the other went towards Damaturu going through Katarko village. 

Military sources stated that  efforts were ongoing to track the fleeing terrorists and rescue the rest of their victims.”
