Northeners Top List of NIN Registrants — NBS Data

The latest data released by the Nigerian Bureau of Statistics (NBS) indicates that the northern part of Nigeria has topped the registration for National Identification Number (NIN)in the country with the total number standing at 22,492,748.

In the details of the registration released on Monday, the NBS stated that it covers the 36 states, FCT, and the diaspora

In the released figures, Kano State tops the list with 2,444,224, registrants, while Kaduna State recorded 1,256,479, coming third on the list, with Lagos State coming in second with a total of 2,097,912 registrants.

According to the NBS, the North-West had the highest registrations, with NIN 7,207,695 issued in the Zone.

In the North Central, Niger State, tops the list with 597,047 registrants, comprising male and female, while Kogi State had the least registration with 308,681

In the North East, Bauchi State has the highest number of registrants with 764,226 (male and female), while Taraba State recorded 334,941

Kano State, which tops the list of registrants in the country, also tops the list of registrants in the North West with 2,444,224 registrants, with Zamfara having the least number of registrants and issued NIN with 165,375

According to the NBS 255,726 people were registered outside the country.
