Northern Youth Congress cautions Buhari against imposition of NASS leaders

Northern Youth Congress for Progress has described as unacceptable the alleged resolve of President Muhammadu Buhari in collaboration with Ahmed Bola Tinubu to impose Senator Ahmed Lawal and Mr Gbajabiamila as Senate President and Speaker respectively.

In a Press Release signed by Comrade Muhammad Ishaq, the group opined that the act of imposition by the duo should be condemn by all patriotic Nigerians.

The Statement reminded the National lawmakers-elect that they have every right to choose who should pilot their affairs, Hence the need not to succumb to the egotistical demand of the two persons.

The group says Buhari and Tinubu have no any right, constitutionally or otherwise, to interfere in the election of principal officers of the national assembly.

“Legislature is an arm of government and it is totally independent of the executive arm of government. In addition, the legislative arm of government should not be answerable to the selfish whims and caprices of some so-called party leaders.

“Therefore, our lawmakers-elect should vociferously revolt against this neocolonialistic tendencies of Buhari and Tinubu. “They should vividly prove to them that Nigeria is not their cattle farm” the statement indicates.

The group called on President Muhammadu Buhari and Ahmed Bola Tinubu to honourably stay away from interfering in the activities of the national assembly, especially the issue of electing their principal officers as their interference would destabilize the polity.
