Oxfam targets 30 rural communities on food security, building life resilience in Kebbi

Oxfam International has targeted over 30 rural communities in three local government areas of Kebbi in order to improve food security and build life resilience for vulnerable people in the areas.

Mr Olumide Ojo, the PROACT Project Manager in the state, made this known shortly after a two day workshop Oxfam organised for key development partners and state government officials in Birnin Kebbi on Friday.

Ojo said the project was funded by European Union towards improving food security and building life resilience for vulnerable rural people in three local government areas.

“The project targets 30 rural communities in Birnin Kebbi, Danko/ Wasagu and Jega local government areas of the state.

“The project is targeting food and security as well as resilient livelihood in Kebbi and Adamawa states,” he said.

He added that the aim of the workshop was to develop strategic linkages with other development partners in the state.

“The aim also is to map out effective and relevant knowledge areas and build on one another’s area of strength as well as foster quality partnership to improve food and nutrition in the state,” he added.

The manager further added that the partnership and synergy created during the meeting gave birth to the formation of development partners’ forum in the state.

“The forum will jointly work together to hasten development through mutual understanding,” he said.

The PROACT Governance and Influencing Coordinator, Usman Faleye, said the project had three-year duration with the aim of creating a uniform force to support the state government reduce poverty.

“It will also ensure quality collaboration and partnership between development partners in the state,” he added.
