Disturbed by the ongoing electioneering campaign for the October 2021 local governments elections in Plateau State, concerned members of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Wase local government area, have expressed shock over statements credited to the Dr Ado Buba campaign organization that Governor Simon Bako Lalong has already endorsed the candidature of the said Dr Ado Buba as his anointed candidate for the forthcoming election in Wase local government.
In a press statement made available to journalists in Jos, Plateau State capital, signed by an executive member of Wase Concerned Group, Alh. Tanimu Muhammed Yusufu, it was stated that the claim by the Ado Buba campaign organization is capable of overheating the polity and derailing democracy.
“We doubt the claimed orchestrated endorsement of Dr Ado Buba by Governor Lalong in view of Ado’s poor performance as the outgoing council chairman of Wase local government
“Governor Lalong has so far displayed equity, justice and fairness in his governing style. We doubt it very much if he can stoop so low for whatever reason to endorse the candidature of a failed chairman who nearly mortgaged the local government to a self-appointed cabal that is remote controlling the council
“Wase local government was steadily progressing until when Ado Buba took over the mantle of governance that the local government started to experience bad policies and absence of service delivery that should not be allowed to continue by any sane mind”, he said.
According to the statement, Wase Concerned Group has so far gone shopping for the best candidate from any part of the local government that has the technical capacity and concern to the plight of the people to contest the coming council chairmanship position but not a tested and failed political novice of no value to be returned to the council for anything.
“We are of the view that the greatest disservice to Wase local government by any person is the endorsement of Dr Ado Buba as an APC candidate for the coming October elections. We are appealing to Governor Lalong to instead of endorsing the candidature of Ado Buba, appoint a probe committee to audit the account books of Wase local government council under Ado Buba in the interest of fairness, good governance and posterity”.
