Police Arrest Two Cultists Terrorising Yelwa, Vow ‘Clampdown’ On Cultists

The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested two notorious cultists wreaking havoc on Yelwa, a suburb of Bauchi metropolis.

Police Public Relations Officer of the Command, SP Ahmed Muhammed Wakil, in a statement on Tuesday said that personnel of the command have arrested one Emmanuel Hassan, 22, and Ruben Obidah, 23, in connection with being members of a notorious cult gang which has been terrorising Yelwa in the Bauchi metropolis.

Wakil said that the suspects “armed themselves with dangerous weapons attacking innocent people, collecting their money, phones, and motorcycles among others.”

He listed Siphernol and four wraps of cannabis as items recovered from the suspects. Wakil maintained that police in Bauchi was fully prepared to ensure that cultists’ plans to ‘celebrate their nefarious activities’ on Wednesday did not come to fruition.

“The CP has directed all Divisional Police Officers to dominate their area of responsibility and round up cult groups to ensure that innocent citizens are not harassed, intimidated or molested.

“The CP has ordered constant clampdown on criminally infested areas in the state in order to stem the rising tides of cultism and associated criminalities,” the statement read in part.
