The Zamafara State Police Command has rescued one Mudassiru Malan in the ongoing search and rescue operations in collaboration with a local vigilante group in Maradun-Kuaran Namoda axis of the state.
Mr Mudassirru, a resident of Sabon Garin Rini of Bakura local government, has been in the hands of his abductors over the last six weeks.
SP Mohammed Shehu, Zamafara State Police Public Relations Officer disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday.
He said that the victim was rescued injury-free and the officers that took part in the operation returned unharmed by the kidnappers.
“On 2nd October 2021, the Police Tactical Operatives in Conjunction with the Vigilante deployed along Maradun Kaura Namoda axis, Succeeded in the rescue of one Mudassiru Malan of Sabon Garin Rini Village in Bakura LGA.
“The victim who was abducted 6 weeks ago has been rescued safely by the Police without any injury sustained by either the victim or the security forces,” the statement read in part.
SP said Zamfara State Commissioner of Police, CP Ayuba Elkanah handed over the rescued victim to the Sole Administrator of Bakura local government for medical care and onward reunion with his family.
CP Ayuba called on the people of Zamfara to avail with the police relevant intelligence information that will lead to the arrest of kidnappers and rescue their victims in the state.
