Pregnant women get free delivery kits from Bauchi Speaker’s wife in Ningi

Hajiya Rashida Shehu, the wife of the Speaker of Bauchi state house of assembly on Wednesday distributed free delivery kits to pregnant women in Nasaru and Ningi towns of Ningi local government area.

The Spokesman to the Speaker of the state assembly, Comrade Abdul Burra who disclosed this in a press release said that the gesture of the speaker’s wife came under her pet project, Sabeerash Foundation.

Speaking during the distribution exercise, Hajiya Rashida said she established the foundation with the aim of helping her husband towards achieving his top priority of bringing succour to the women folks in Ningi Constituency.

Hajiya Rashida who is a professional Nurse added that the distribution of the free delivery kits to pregnant women was targeted at easing their hardship during pregnancy as well as ensure safe delivery.

The wife of the Speaker while urging the beneficiaries to maintain routine antenatal care to safeguard their health and that of their babies, advised them to make good use of the kits as directed by medical officers.

The village head of Nasaru who received the team on a courtesy visit in his palace, thanked the Speaker’s wife for the kind gesture accorded to women in the area, and prayed to Almighty Allah to reward her abundantly.

On their part, the beneficiaries of the free delivery kits thanked the wife of the speaker for considering them worthy of the gifts, saying that it will go a long way in ameliorating their sufferings during and after delivery.

Mrs Aishatu Salisu who spoke on behalf of the pregnant women said that the gesture was first of its kind in Ningi where women received free delivery kits, adding that, “women in Ningi will forever remain grateful to her and her husband Rt. Hon. Abubakar Suleiman for their various interventions and initiatives on women empowerment and healthcare.”
