President Bola Tinubu has appointed new Directors-General for Nigeria’s key intelligence agencies, the National Intelligence Agency (NIA) and the Department of State Services (DSS).
In a statement made available to newsmen in Abuja, Special Adviser to the President on media and publicity, Chief Ajuri Ngelale, said Ambassador Mohammed Mohammed has been named the DG of the NIA.
A seasoned diplomat, Ambassador Mohammed has served in various capacities since joining the NIA in 1995, including leading the Nigerian mission in Libya.
He is an alumnus of Bayero University, Kano, and has previously worked in North Korea, Pakistan, Sudan, and at the State House in Abuja.
Mr. Adeola Oluwatosin Ajayi is the new Director-General of the DSS. Mr. Ajayi, who rose through the ranks to become an Assistant Director-General, has served as the State Director in Bauchi, Enugu, Bayelsa, Rivers, and Kogi States.
President Tinubu has tasked the new appointees with repositioning the agencies to better address Nigeria’s security challenges, emphasizing the importance of enhanced collaboration with other security bodies and alignment with the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA).
The President expressed his gratitude to the outgoing Directors-General for their service and wished them success in their future endeavors.
