PRP berates FG, seeks review of COVID-19 strategy

The Peoples Redemption Party has criticised the Federal Government’s handling of the coronavirus pandemic, saying FG is “playing nero while Nigeria burns”.

The PRP however called on the federal and state governments to review the strategies used in the fight against COVID-19 pandemic.

The party said the unless the federal government adopt pragmatic and sustainable approaches, the war against the pandemic would be efforts in futility.

In a statement signed by the party’s national chairman, Falalu Bello, and made available to WikkiTimes yesterday, the PRP Chairman seeks for review of the lockdown orders restricting movements.

He said the current lockdown measures have not provide alternative means of livelihood fro Nigerians.

Bello called on the government to procure and distribute face masks to the public and make the wearing of the protective items compulsory in public spaces until the pandemic is over.

The party also urged the federal government to procure testing kits to enable individuals suspected of showing symptoms of the disease have easy access for testing.

He said the federal government should “prepare stimulus packages for sectors of the national economy which are going to be worst affected by the pandemic in the coming months, such as small-holder agriculture, small and medium enterprises, operators in the informal sectors of the economy and selected strategic industries”, with immediate effect.
