Jigawa Governor, Alhaji Muhammad Badaru, has charged winners of the 2019 Qur’anic competition in the state to seek for more knowledge on Islamic religion and be good ambassadors of the religion.
Badaru, who gave the charge at the closing ceremony of the state Third Musabqar, Qur’anic competition in Dutse on Thursday admonished them to always practice the teachings and tenets of Islam which is peace.
The Governor, who was represented by his Deputy, Malam Umar Namadi, advised the competitors to seek for more knowledge with a view to interpreting the Holy Qur’an in its correct perspective.
He reiterated the determination of his administration of promoting both the Islamic and Western education in the state.
Badaru disclosed that recently, his administration sponsored a former commissioner for education in the state and a senior lecturer from the Islamic Studies department of Usumanu Danfodio University, Sokoto as well as a winner of state Quranic recitation competition to Dubai to witness the International Quranic recitation Competition.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reported that the 2019 Jigawa Qur’anic recitation competition was contested in various categories which includes, Tafsir, (translation of the Holy Qur’an), Tauhid, (Islamic Jurisprudence), Hadith (Tradition of Holy Prophet), Fiqhu, (Practice of religion of Islam) and Sira (Islamic history) among others.
