Robbery Attacks: Bauchi Gov Task Nigerian Army To Secure Jos Road

Bala Mohammed Abdulkadir, Bauchi State Governor has on Tuesday pleaded with the Nigerian Army to come up with a new surveillance strategy in order to rescue Bauchi to Jos road against incessant robbery and other criminal attacks.

Mr. Mohammed who made the request when he received in audience, the Acting General Officer Commanding, 3 Division of the Nigerian Army, Brigadier General Musa Danmadami who paid a courtesy visit at the Council Chamber, Government House Bauchi lamented that the robbery incidences being reported on Bauchi Jos-Road was quite alarming.

Governor Bala Mohammed said his administration was ready to work with the Nigerian Army and other security agencies to help deepen surveillance that will guarantee peaceful coexistence in the state.

The governor said collaboration between the state government and the security agencies was imperative in curbing kidnapping, arm robbery and other criminal activities in the State.

“On behalf of the people and Government of Bauchi state, we are very pleased to welcome the GOC to Government House Bauchi. 3 Division is one of the most historic divisions in the Nigerian Army.”

“So far, the Nigerian Army, under the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Burutai has done so much to make us safe and secure.  The Army and other security Agencies in Bauchi have also done so much to maintain our peace”, the governor said.

The Governor who commended the 3 Division of the Nigerian Army for the surveillance carried out in forests of the state, said the exercise has assisted in tackling most of the security problems facing the state.

“Bauchi is surrounded by many states and therefore we have so many forests that become hideouts of criminals. We request for many surveillances for us to live peacefully.”

Responding, the Acting General Officer Commanding, 3 Division of the Nigerian Army, Brigadier General Musa Danmadami said he was in Bauchi to visit army formations in the state and to interact with critical stakeholders in the security sector.

“Your Excellency, it is the tradition of the Nigerian Army for any Officer posted to go round and see for himself various formations and units and to meet with the major stakeholders who are part of the security architecture.”

“Your Excellency, as Chief Security officer of Bauchi, you are a major stakeholder in this regard. In Bauchi, 33 Brigade which is under the division is doing its best to ensure peace and security in the state with the collaboration with other security agencies”, he said.
