Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy has stated that at least 137 civilians and military personnel have been killed within the first day of the Russian invasion of the country.
Zelenskiy also said he and his family have become targets of Russia as he vowed to remain in Ukraine.
Authorities in Ukraine say Russian troops have already entered the city, urging citizens to remain in-house.
The Ukraine Defense Minister confirmed that Russian troops have entered the Ukrainian capital Kyiv. Videos posted on social media showed Russian tanks moving in Obolon, an area north of the capital Kyiv.
Also, the country’s Interior Minister has said that Russia has attacked and destroyed many civilian areas in the country. He said within 24 hours of the invasion, Russia destroyed 33 civilian areas.
