Suspected Gunmen Kidnap Former Local Government Chair in Benue

Suspected kidnappers have allegedly abducted the former chairman of Okpokwu Local Government, Amina Audu, and other two persons.

The incident, according to a source who spoke to journalists on the condition of anonymity on Monday, said the three individuals were kidnapped when traveling through the Makurdi Naka

The other two individuals allegedly abducted alongside the former chairman were identified as the cousin of the politician and her driver.

Another source in the village who spoke anonymously noted that the abductors had taken the belongings of the victims before taking them into the bush.

The WikkiTimes learned that the abductors had not requested any ransom as of midnight of Monday, November 13, 2023

Efforts to speak with Catherine Anene, the Public Relations Officer of the Police in the state, regarding the incident failed as she did not respond to a text message sent to her at the press time.

This is not the first time communities in Benue State will be experiencing incidents of abductions and other forms of insecurity. The Naka Makurdi road has been an abduction and attack-prone route in recent months with the attack and killing of passengers traveling the road. The latest in the incident were passengers of the Benue Links transport.
