Three Jigawa Students Die in Fatal Accident

At least three students of Government Arabic Secondary School Kaugama, Jigawa State were confirmed dead while several others sustained various degree of injuries as a result of tire bust accident on their way to Gwaram town for the end of term holiday.

The incident which occurred along Jahun/Kiyawa road on March 15th involved an overload Sharon Galaxy bus, claimed the lives of three students while seven others were referred to FMC Birnin Kudu for medical attention when their tire burst out Kadirawa village.

DSP Lawan Shiisu Adam, Jigawa State Police Command Public Relations Officer while confirming the incident said the vehicle, carrying students from Kaugama on vacation to Gwaram, overturned after a tire burst at Kadirawa Village.

According to him apart from the dead three students, eight students were treated and discharged at Jahun General Hospital, while the driver and six others were referred to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) in Birnin Kudu for further treatment.

He added that overloading and worn-out tires were responsible for the tragic accident according to preliminary investigation.

In a condolence message to the parents of the affected students, the Jigawa State Governor, Umar Namadi described the incident as pathetic.

“My heartfelt condolences to the families and loved ones of the students of Government Arabic Secondary School Kaugama, Jigawa State, who tragically lost their lives in an accident while on their way to Gwaram for the end of term holiday. May Allah (SWT) grant them Jannatul Firdaus and grant patience to their families”.

“I also pray for the quick recovery of those who sustained injuries, may Allah grant them shifa (healing) and strength during this challenging time” tweets Namadi.
