Troops Rescue 6 Kidnap Victims, Kill One Terrorist in Kaduna

The operatives of the Nigerian Army 1st Division said they have rescued 6 kidnap victims and killed one terrorist, suspected to be a kidnapper in Kaduna.

Terrorism and banditry in Kaduna State killed several citizens, others kidnapped and millions of naira paid in ransom. Recently, the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) claimed that over the last four years, it lost 200 churches and 23 pastors in the state.

Similarly, in March 2022, motorcycle-riding terrorists attacked a Kaduna-Abuja train killing scores of passengers and abducting several others. About 970 passengers were believed to be on board the train. The aftermath of the attack forced the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) to suspend operations along the Kaduna-Abuja route

Lieutenant-Colonel Musa Yahaya, the acting Deputy Director of Army Public Relations, 1st Division Nigerian confirmed the development in a statement issued in Kaduna. He said that the victims were rescued on Friday.

“The troop acted on credible and timely intelligence on the kidnap of 6 persons at Hayin Tsando general area of Maraban Jos, in Igabi Local Government  Area of the state.

“The gallant troops quickly mobilized and embarked on a search and rescue operation. The troops made contact with the bandits and criminal elements and a heavy fire fight ensued.

“During the operation, troops successfully rescued six kidnapped victims captured two  AK 47 rifles and neutralized one bandit while others escaped with several degrees of gunshot wounds,” he said.

Yahaya also charged them to continue the aggressive tempo until all criminal elements in the division’s ‘Area of Responsibility’ are completely eradicated.

Yahaya said that the ongoing clearance operation by the troops of the division had continued to yield positive results.

He also appealed to all paramedics to be on the lookout for persons with gunshot wounds and report to the Nigerian Army and other sister security services for prompt action.
