The Police in Jigawa State have arrested two suspects for allegedly invading and vandalising electric power equipments belonging to Kano Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO).
The suspects were arrested at Kazaure with sacks containing disc insulator and aluminum cables while trying to flee with them.
Lawan Shiisu Adam, spokesman for Jigawa Police Command, identified the suspects as Yasir Isah, a 20-year-old resident of Tsohon-kafi quarters and Mustafa Lawal, 20, of Kofar Dazau quarters in Kazaure local government.
“On 04/09/23 at about 1300hrs, infomartion from a reliable source revealed that unknown persons were seen with aluminium wires in a sack strongly suspected to be stolen,” said Adam.
“On interrogation, the suspects could not give a satisfactory account of how they came across the properties and admitted to having vandalized Kano Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO) properties along Gwiwa- Kazaure Highway”, he added.
Adam added that the police contacted acting manager, Kazaure Technical Service Point (TSP) who confirmed that KEDCO electricity line at the old NYSC Skills Acquisition Center along Gwiwa — Kazaure Highway was vandalised by hoodlums.
In a related development, the police said they have arrested another drug dealer in Guri LGA of the state.
According to the statement, the suspect, Shu’aibu Musa, a 25-year-old resident of Bakin Kasuwa quarters Guri LGA was arrested on Tuesday by police operatives while conducting a search on criminals hideout where they recovered 49 D-5 tablets, 14 tramadol capsules, and 12 wraps of dry leave suspected to be Indian Hemp.
Adam said the suspects would be charged to court upon completion of investigation.
