Why Dogara Dumped Bauchi Gov and Endorsed Major Contender

The former speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara has dumped reelection-seeking Bala Mohammed and endorsed his major contender, Air Marshall Sadiq Baba Abubakar (rtd) for next week’s gubernatorial election in Bauchi State.

WikkiTimes understands that the relationship between Dogara and the incumbent governor got sour when the latter reportedly reneged upon some agreements.

On March 9, Dogara led a campaign team of Abubakar across some Bauchi local governments including Kirfi and Duguri in Alkaleri local council where Governor Bala hails from.

Addressing the locals, Dogara said the state needs a leader desirous of change.

“We came to tell you the truth, that we need to effect a change of leadership in Bauchi State. I came here to enlighten you that even though your son (Governor Mohammed) is there but since he is not doing well we should change him . I urge you all to cast your vote for Air Marshall Sadiq Abubakar on Saturday,” he said, describing Abubakar as a father who will bring succour to the people of Bauchi State.

Dogara, a member of All Profressives Congress (APC), had during the February 25th election, delivered an APC candidates — Jafaru Leko and Shehu Buba — for his Federal Constituency of Bogoro/Dass/Tafawa Balewa, Jafaru Leko and Bauchi South Senatorial District respectively.

He also worked for his party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar who came next to the president-elect, APC’s Bola Tinubu.

It was gathered that Dogara was instrumental to the victory of Governor Bala in 2019 when he ousted former governor Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar.
