Why We Ignored Dogara, Deploys Personnel For Gonto Memorial Anniversary – Bauchi CP

Umar Mamman Sanda, the Commissioner of Police Bauchi State Command has doled out reasons that the command defied rumours of possible security breakdown and deployed its personnel For the Friday Memorial anniversary in honour of Late Baba Gonto.

The Commissioner of police stated this in an exclusive interview with Wikkitimes on Wednesday.

He said, “It is just a celebration and the government of Bauchi State have given the instruction that the celebration must go on.

“Some people are not in support of the celebration while others are in support, we don’t want any of the two groups having anything to do with taking the Law into their hands.

“If you say you are not supporting it, just keep away from the ceremony and the celebrants should go ahead to celebrate, if also, on the other hand, you say you want it, you don’t need to go and cause a problem for anybody elsewhere” CP Sanda warned.

On the case made by Yakubu Dogara why the event should be cancelled, the state Commissioner of Police said,” We appreciate the position taken by the former honourable speaker, Mr. Yakubu Dogara, he has really put us on notice that there might be a breakdown of law and order and in this regard, we have put all the necessary steps in place.

“We have deployed our security personnel and intelligence outfit and we have all been working round the clock to ensure that there is no incident that is recorded”, he added

“However, let me also sound a warning that we are equal to the task; in as much as we are asking for the support of all and sundry, I will also like to use this medium to warn people that they should not foment any sort of trouble” CP Umar insisted
