For instance, 237 deaths were recorded in Borno State in June [the highest casualty], but the state is not among the top 10 where kidnap cases were reported. In June, 585 deaths and 289 kidnapping cases were recorded in the 10 northern states.

Of the total of 3,920 deaths reported across the six geographical zones between January and June, the north has 3,332 cases while the south recorded 558 casualties.
