10,000 Dogs To Get Rabies Vaccine In Bauchi

Bauchi State Government has targeted 10,000 dogs for rabies vaccine campaign in the state.

Barrister Jidauna Mbami Tula, Commissioner for Agriculture Bauchi State said this in Bauchi during the inauguration of this year’s Free Anti-Rabies Vaccination Campaign.

He said that rabies is a dreaded zoonotic viral disease which affects all blooded animals including humans with a very high rate of fatalities.

The Commissioner who was represented by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry Yakubu Jibrin Abdullahi said cases of dog bites in the state have been on the increase, hence the rabies vaccination campaign.

He called on the relevant veterinary officials in the state to ensure proper application of the vaccines to ensure that the aim of the exercise is achieved.

The Commissioner said it is the chore of the ministry to tame the spread of rabies in the state.
