Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has donated 1,000 bags of 25kg rice to Christian communities in Bauchi State as part of Christmas and New Year support efforts.
The donation, distributed through the Christian Northern Nigeria Political Forum (CNNPF), is expected to reach beneficiaries across all 20 local government areas of the state.
Distribution Across Bauchi Communities
The Bauchi State Coordinator of the Forum, Mr Ayuba Dogara, announced the donation on Saturday during the commencement of distribution. He said the rice would be shared across the state, with instructions given to local coordinators to ensure the process is fair and transparent.
Targeting Vulnerable Groups
According to Dogara, beneficiaries include women and youth groups, registered associations, members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), and other vulnerable persons within Christian communities. He described the donation as timely, citing rising living costs and increased household spending during the festive season.
Linked to Renewed Hope Agenda
Dogara said the intervention aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which he described as prioritising inclusion, compassion, and social support for Nigerians across religious and social divides. He added that the donation also recognises the political support the Forum’s members have given to the current administration over the years. “The distribution of Christmas food items to Christian families reflects empathy and a commitment to national service,” Dogara said.
Calls for Peace and Accountability
Dogara urged Nigerians to continue promoting peaceful coexistence, stressing that national development depends on unity and mutual understanding. He also warned local coordinators against discrimination or diversion, insisting that the items must reach intended beneficiaries.
The APC Chairman of Bogoro Local Government Area, Mr Istifanus Manasseh, commended the Tinubu administration’s approach to citizen welfare, describing it as inclusive. One of the beneficiaries, Mr Bage Maitandu, thanked the First Lady for the donation, describing it as a source of encouragement during the festive period.
