Mohammed Idris Malagi, the publisher of Blueprint newspaper, has reportedly emerged as the Niger State governorship candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) after losing to Mohammed Umaru Bago at the All Progressives Congress (APC) primaries.
WikkiTimes gathered that Malagi emerged victorious unopposed with a total votes of 124 at theNNPP primaries held today.
Hitherto, it was rumoured that the publisher would be pitched as the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) candidate. This is despite the fact that the party has a strong candidate, Isah Liman Kantigi.

After his defeat in the APC primaries where he scored polled 386, Malagi allied with several political bigwigs in the state, including Kantigi. In the APC primary, Malagi was defeated alongside 10 others including an incumbent deputy governor, Ahmed Ketso who confidently polled 17 votes.
Jibrin Baba Ndace, Malagi’s closest ally, could not be reached at press time. His number was “switched off.”
