“The bandits arrived at the base on two motorcycles, Abba told newsmen. “One was carrying three persons and the other one was carrying two persons.”

He added: “On arrival, they opened fire at the Immigration personnel on patrol, which resulted to the death of one officer named Abdullahi Mohammed (CIA) while two other officers Abba Musa Jigawa (DSI) and Zubairu Garba (AII) sustained severe bullet wounds.

“As a results of heavy returning fire, the bandits fled into the bush and deserted their bikes and handset (Techno T5 cell phone).

“The 2 motorcycles are Bajaj with chasis no: MD2A18AXS7MWK81092 and Royal with chasis no: RY157FMINILI2607, all now in our custody.”

The comptroller said the injured personnel have been taken to hospital for medical attention, while the deceased officer has been buried.

According to him, the deserted bikes and cell phone have been handed over to the police for investigation.

“I should commend the officers for gallantry repelling the attackers that made them take to their heels and abandon their bikes”, he said.

“This has proven that the NIS is keen and ever able to protect the country and won’t relent within the combat in opposition to crimes within the state,” Abba reiterated.
