Association commends Bauchi Governor for suspending LG Chairmen

Arewa Online Publishers’ Association, (AOPA), has commended Bauchi state governor, Bala Mohammed for suspending three local government chairman who were found wanting in discharging their responsibilities.

The Association in a letter sends to the governor and made available to WikkiTimes through the Senior Special Assistant to the governor on Media Muktari Gidado, commended the governor for suspending the caretaker chairmen of Ningi, Darazo and Kirfi LGAs.

The Bauchi state coordinator of the association, Mallam Mohammed Haruna says the governor has demonstrated doggedness by ceding with the masses in taking proactive measures against the LG Chairmen.

“It means you are not a passive leader who tolerates indolence and mediocrity. “If it were someone, he would have shielded all his appointees at the detriment of the masses, but you resisted the urge to protect docile and unaccountable representatives and decided to cede with the masses who elected you and for whom you occupy the oval office.

“By this singular act, you have proven that you are indeed leading a responsive government that listens to the voices and complaints of the entire people of Bauchi State regardless of party affiliation.

“The action has indicated that you are ready and well prepared to abide by the dictates of the masses that rejected, downsized and sent packing, the previous administration which almost derailed the state into a point of no return.

“You have affirmed that power indeed belongs to the people and as Governor of Bauchi, you have not shortchanged or deprived them of that power.

“Our eyes will be wide open and our ears will listen to be able to help you watch and report your appointees who may try to sabotage your good works by way of defying accountability.

“This, we will do with sincerity, professionalism and utmost decorum to help your administration to deliver on its promises.

“We shall continue to publicize your good policies and programs with the view to galvanize grassroots participation and active citizens’ engagement in the business of governance”, the letter added.
