BAHA calls for fire service station in Alkaleri

A member representing Pali constituency at the Bauchi state House of Assembly, Hon. Yusuf Muhammad Bako has called for the establishment of fire service station in Alkaleri local government area of the state.

The member while presenting the motion before the flow of the state assembly at a plenary on Wednesday said that there was the need for the executive arm of government to establish Fire Service Station in the to guarantee quick response to fire outbreaks in the local government area.

A press statement obtained from the spokesman to the Speaker of the state assembly, Comrade Abdul Burra stressed that, Bako while explaining that Alkaleri Local Government is prone to many natural disasters, citing an instance witnessed last year when several lives were lost and properties worth millions of naira were destroyed.

“Alkaleri is far from Bauchi and Gombe, as such, whenever there is fire incident there are no officers of fire service nearby to combat such disasters.

“The poor road condition from Bauchi to Alkaleri always delays the arrival of fire fighters to Alkaleri”, he lamented.

Honourable Bako therefore appealed to the House to prevail on the executive arm to establish fire service station in the area.

In his contribution, Honourable Saleh Hodi Jibir said that fire disasters occur especially during harmattan season as such seconded to pleas to establish the fire service station in the proposed area.

Honourable Bakoji Aliyu suggested that the matter be referred to Committee on Works to harmonize for other demands and extend same to the Executive Arm and was seconded by Honourable Abdulkadir Umar Dewu, representing Kirfi Constituency.

The House adopted the motion and referred it to the Committee on Works for further action.
