Bauchi APC Congress: Chieftain Accuses Maitama Tuggar of Tearing Party Into Factional Groups In Gamawa

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Gamawa local government area of Bauchi State Alhaji Sirajo Dada, has accused Nigeria’s Ambassador to the Republic of Germany Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar of tearing the party into two factional groups and creating two parallel leadership in Gamawa LGA of the state.

The APC chieftain who was a former Secretary of the party, Northeast zone was reacting to a recent publication where Tuggar was quoted as saying that the local government congress in Gamawa LGA was peaceful and transparent.

He said Tuggar lured his loyalists at Chartwell Hotel Bauchi on Thursday and handpicked “those he wants to lead the party in Gamawa.”

Alhaji Sirajo Dada in an exclusive interview with WikkiTimes said that after notifying all the relevant security outfits in Gamawa about their plan to hold the party congress on Saturday, 4th September, Tuggar “held his illegal congress on Thursday, 2nd September.”

“We invited all the eleven federal wards and thirteen working committees of the APC Gamawa East Primary School.”

“The PRO of the Working Committee in the local government invited Tuggar but he did not show up at the event

“Instead, he mobilised for a stakeholders’ meeting without inviting us and the thirteen Working Committee Members of the APC in Gamawa.

“He only invited the chairman of the working committee in the local government just to use him as a tool to achieving their ulterior motives,” he said

Sirajo said the Ambassador “sent his tugs to disrupt the Saturday congress that was ongoing in Gamawa.”

He said the party congress in Gamawa was far from being transparent as claimed by Ambassador Tuggar.

The APC Chieftain said as a result of Tuggar’s purported congress at the hotel, two leadership factions of the party emerged in Gamawa with separate party secretariats.

He said that the party is yet to accept any of the leadership that emerged from the two separate congresses of the party from Gamawa.

“The leadership of the party at the state level did not accept any of the factions’ leaders. Both of us took our separate results to INEC.

“This problem that denied the APC governorship position in Bauchi State in 2019 is repeating itself at the moment in greater dimensions with more damaging multiplier effects.

“Any party that does not win the governorship seat in a state and has started having problems at the level of LG congresses, it means that there will be lawlessness in the party,” Sirajo said.

Efforts to reach the publicity secretary of the APC in Bauchi Comrade Sabo Mohammed proved abortive, as calls and a text message sent to his mobile number were not responded to as of press time.
