Bauchi state House of Assembly has approved the state’s revised 2020 appropriation bill of over N129 billion into law.
The House in a plenary presided over by the Speaker, Rt Honourable Abubakar Y Sulaiman, unanimously passed the revised COVID-19 2020 appropriation budget into law, Tuesday.
This followed the decision of the house to adopt the recommendations of its Committee on Budget and Appropriation laid before it by the Chairman of the committee, Honourable Abdulkadir Umar Dewu.
The House Committee on Budget and Appropriation recommended that N129,851,545, 380 should be considered and adopted.
The Chairman of the committee, Honourable Abdulkadir Umar Dewu said N68,985,86535) has been earmarked for recurrent expenditure representing 53% while N60, 866,458, 845 is for capital expenditure representing 47% of the total revised 2020 budget.
The committee advised the executive arm to harness resources from tourism, mining, agriculture and partnership to finance the budget rather than depending solely on monthly federal allocations in view of the dwindling oil prices.
Majority leader of the house, Hon. Tijjani Muhammad Aliyu moved that the revised 2020 budget should undergo third reading.
In his ruling, Speaker Abubakar Y Sulaiman directed the clerk of the House, Umar Yusuf Gital to read the bill for the third time after which the honourable members of the house unanimousely voted in favour of the bill.
The Speaker directed the Clerk of the House to transmit a clean document of the Budget passed to the Executive Arm for assent.
