Bauchi Gov Advocates Skill-Based Learning In Nigerian Higher Institutions

Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed has advocated for skill-based learning in Nigerian higher institutions and more attention on research-based learning. 

Mohammed made the call when a Presidential visitation panel to the Federal Polytechnic, Bauchi paid him a visit at the Government House on Wednesday. He urged the government to look for better ways of supporting research and development towards encouraging  productivity and economic growth.

He also expressed the determination of the state government to collaborate with federal and state technical institutions in building the skills of students.

He explained that the solution to the economic challenges in the state and the country as whole is engaging youth in skill acquisition programmes, encouraging students to take advantage of the Federal Polytechnic, Bauchi in building their capacity.

While assuring his administration support to all the technical institutions across the state, Mohammed called for a concerted effort from management and students of the institutions to achieve the desired objectives.

Earlier, the Chairman of the Presidential Visitation Panel, Abubakar Bawa Buwari said the panel was constituted to review the performance of the federal polytechnics across the country with a view to addressing all the challenges identified.

Bawa Buwari said in the course of its assignment, the panel met with relevant stakeholders and obtained all the needed information for onward presentation to the federal ministry of education.
