Bala Mohammed, the governor ofBauchi State has thrown a challenge to political scientists in the Northeast
region to present new research findings and perspectives that will elicit freshideas capable of being translated into viable policies for the reconstructionand rehabilitation of the region.The governor made the statementduring the opening of the 2nd Annual Conference of the Nigerian PoliticalScience Association, Northeast Region themed ‘Governance, Reconstruction,Reconciliation, Rehabilitation and Development of Northeast’ held at BauchiState University Gadau.
The Governor who was representedby the Speaker of the Bauchi State House of Assembly, Abubakar Y Suleiman,described the conference as timely since the region was trying to recover fromthe devastating consequences of the deadly Boko Haram insurgents.
The Governor urged participants atconference to provoke constructive discussions that will offer solutions to themyriads of challenges confronting the region.
He assured the participants thatboth the Executive and Legislative arms of Bauchi State will continue tomaintain close relationship with the academic community to spark policies andlegislations that will reposition the educational system of the State.
