Bala Mohammed, the governor of Bauchi State has thrown a challenge to political scientists in the Northeast region to present new research findings and perspectives that will elicit fresh ideas capable of being translated into viable policies for the reconstruction and rehabilitation of the region.
The governor made the statement during the opening of the 2nd Annual Conference of the Nigerian Political Science Association, Northeast Region themed ‘Governance, Reconstruction, Reconciliation, Rehabilitation and Development of Northeast’ held at Bauchi State University Gadau.
The Governor who was represented by the Speaker of the Bauchi State House of Assembly, Abubakar Y Suleiman, described the conference as timely since the region was trying to recover from the devastating consequences of the deadly Boko Haram insurgents.
The Governor urged participants at conference to provoke constructive discussions that will offer solutions to the myriads of challenges confronting the region.
He assured the participants that both the Executive and Legislative arms of Bauchi State will continue to maintain close relationship with the academic community to spark policies and legislations that will reposition the educational system of the State.
