Bauchi Governor sworn-in caretaker committee Chairmen

Bauchi state Governor, Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed has sworn in the newly appointed Caretaker Committee Chairmen for the 20 Local Government Areas of the state.

Addressing the appointees at Council Chamber, Government House Bauchi, Governor Bala said their appointment, was to demonstrate the determination of his administration to inject vibrancy in the administration of local government system.

Governor Bala Mohammed said their selection as caretaker committee chairmen was based on their contributions to the development of the state and the country in general.

The governor said his administration was working hard to ensure LGAs in the state play their constitutional role of bringing government close to the people.

The governror warned the appointees against financial fraud, indolence and mismanagement of government funds

WikkiTimes recalled that the past administration of MA Abubakar defied constitutional provisions and refused to conduct elections throughout its four years tenure.

It was not clear whether his successor will conduct LG polls within the next few months.

Political analysts believe local elections will embolden Nigeria’s democracy and bring its dividends closer to the people.

But Nigeria’s Governors have been notorious with local elections and where they were conducted, opposition parties lament impunity and massive rigging.
