Bauchi Imam Denies Threatening President Tinubu’s Wife

In his first public preaching session after returning from a ‘self-imposed exile,’ Chief Imam of Dusten-Tanshi Jumma’ah Mosque Bauchi, Dr Idris Abdul’aziz has debunked claims alleging that he threatened to kill the wife of the president, Oluremi Tinubu.

But the wife of the president had in March this year while reacting to the threat during an official working visit to Bauchi, said she is not afraid of death and, hence, not worried by the commination. “I want to say that I am too old to be afraid. If God had granted me more than 60 years on earth, I should not be afraid of death,” She declared.

The Imam said this while closing this year’s Ramadan commentary of the Holy Qur’an in Bauchi on Monday evening.

“It was a smearing campaign orchestrated from Bauchi to cause disaffection between me and the wife of the president. Two groups are responsible for this,” he said.

Dr Abdu’aziz said the ulterior motive of the campaign was to ridicule him in the eyes of the federal government after a similar attempt was made to fist him with the Bauchi State Government.

“I challenge those behind this to bring forward authentic video or audio evidence where I was quoted issuing a threat to the wife of the president,” he said.

WikkiTimes recalls that Bauchi State Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed had apologised to the wife of the president when she visited Bauchi to commission some projects last month, describing the threat as empty and a national disgrace.
