New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) in Bauchi State pledges to conduct local government councils election within six months if elected into power.
The NNPP’s gubernatorial candidate in the state, Ambassador Shuaibu Ahmed Adamu made the pledge while addressing supporters of the party in Bauchi. He said the move was to restore the lost dignity and independence of local governments’ administration and bring government closer to the people.
Ambassador Shuaibu Ahmad said he would declare zero tolerance for Corruption, which he said will improve efficient and transparent delivery of public services to reduce waste and improve effectiveness.
Since the return of democracy in 1999, spectators have criticised the continued domination of local governments administration by state governors. Bauchi state has not conducted LG polls since the current government was elected into power in 2015 despite repeated pledges that it will conduct the elections.
