The huge successes recorded in the ongoing Youth Employment and Social Support Operations (YESSO) , World Bank Assisted project and other social safety nets interventions in Bauchi State have triggered the state government into sourcing for more funding for the continuation of the project as the YESSO project comes to an end in June 2020.
Towards this end, Bauchi State Government is to access the of $44.63 Million Dollars from the African Development Bank.
This was part of the outcome of the meeting between the State Commissioner of Budget and Planning, DrAmimu Hassan Gamawa, other Commissioners and the African Development Bank in Abuja.
A press statement issued by the media assistant to the Commissioner, Musleem Lawal said that in addition to the funding obtained, there are other avenues for funding that are dependent on qualified programme performance.
The statement quoted the commissioner as saying that, “The Bauchi State Ministry of Budget and Planning has set itself a number of clear objectives in its mission to deliver on the promises of the His Excellency Governor Bala Mohammed by entering into a partnership with the African Development Bank so that the administration can take the next step in delivering key services to the people of the State on an , effective, efficient and productive manner”.
The key areas of intervention according to the statement include improving the quality of life, providing basic social services, Water Sanitation & Hygiene (WASH) , health, education, livelihood opportunities, food security and a strengthened social safety net system in selected areas of the state in need.
The commissioner further said that three components on delivering on these aims and objectives are service delivery, economic recovery and institutional strengthening /project management to guide the ministry at every turn.
