Bauchi State Water and Sewerage Corporation (BSWSC) has established and facilitated the elections of executives to run the affairs of the State Water Users’ Association (BSWUA).
The decision was in line with the guidelines for the implementation of the Federal Government’s 3rd Urban Water supply Sector Reform and the global trends of running public utilities.
The keenly contested election under the supervision of the board of directors and management staff of the BSWSC saw the emergence of a Chairman, Vice Chairman, Secretary and other key executive officers.
Sulaiman Musa of Dan’amar Ward was elected as Chairman, with Musa Abubakar as Vice Chairman. Rabiu Garba was elected unopposed to serve as secretary and Abdurrahman Abubakar as Financial Secretary.
Others were Zainab Muhammad Hassan who was elected as Treasurer, while Dahiru Ibrahim Yero is to serve as Public Relations Officer of the association respectively.
Shortly after taken the oath of office by the new executives, administered by the corporations’ secretary, the chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Association, Alhaji Nuru Adamu Jumba enjoin the new executives to uphold the trust bestowed on them in line with their mandates as representatives of water users in Bauchi state.
This, according to him will ensure effective and efficient water supply to cater for the needs of all water users in Bauchi state.
Also speaking, the Managing Director of BSWSC Engineer Aminu Aliyu Gital said the establishment and election of the pioneer executives of the association was a culmination of series of activities spanning about three years.
He pledges the Corporations’ readiness to support the activities of the Association in carrying out their mandate.
The MD also commends members of the association during the election and implored them to support the new leadership of the association.
