COVID-19: Bauchi to get testing centre

Bauchi state government says as part of measures to address the problems associated with testing, the state government is making efforts to get its testing center for coronovirus.

The State Deputy Governor, Senator Baba Tela who is the Chairman of the Special Taskforce on COVID-19 has said at a press briefing to update Journalists on the situation of the virus.

Baba Tela who expressed concern over delay in getting result from NCDC says Bauchi will establish its testing center to facilitate prompt and timely testing of patients infected with the virus.

“This development can reduce the difficulties we usually faced before accessing tests to coronovirus in Abuja. “If this was actualized, we can conduct our tests in Bauchi easily without any hitches.”

He said the state government is working with NCDC and other stakeholders to ensure the establishment of testing center for coronovirus in the state.

Baba Tela said doing so will reduce the pressure on NCDC in Abuja and open windows to get more people tested in Bauchi.

He expressed concern that the border closure with neighboring states is being flouted by some motorists, adding that “the measures are not meant to punish people, but to protect all of us”.
