COVID-19: Jos LG Chairman parades 8 suspected ‘intruders’

Shehu Bala Usman, Jos North local government Chairman in Plateau State has on Thursday, paraded 8 people before a mobile court for allegedly violating the lockdown directives put in place to prevent the spread of coronavirus in the state.

A combined team of security forces arrested the suspects who were subsequently paraded before the mobile court.

Philip Eplong, Senior Information Officer of the LGA in a press release made available to journalists said the arrested people were said to have come to Jos from Delta, Lagos and Kaduna states.

“They will be quarantined for 14 days”, he said.

The statement said active synergy with the security agencies at the border will help ensure all the routes remain closed.

The statement commended the security operatives for their patriotism in manning the borders.

“The local council will continue to work closely with the state government to ensure the state is free of COVID 19”, he stressed.

The statement quoted the transition Chairman challenging traditional rulers and groups whose citizens are at the border to put all measures in place to assist government in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

Shehu, reiterated that members of the executive and wards councilors were moved to the borders to work with the security agencies to ensure sanity at the entry points.

“Staff from the Plateau state ministry of health were at the mobile Court to test those who entered the state illegally and ensure they are quarantine for 14 days”, the statement read in part.
