COVID-19: Kaduna State NBA chairman tasks members, residents on safety guidelines

The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Kaduna State Chapter, has advised members and residents to strictly adhere to safety guidelines to curb further spread of the coronavirus disease in the state.

The Chairman of the state chapter, Mr Samson Audu, gave the advice in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Kaduna on Friday.

Audu said it was important that people adhere strictly to the guidelines given by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), World Health Organisation (WHO) and the state government to stay safe.

“The people need to understand the importance of staying safe and the purpose of wearing masks to protect themselves and others.

“It is important to know that each time you expose yourself to others, you are at risk to yourself and everyone else in the community.

“If you must leave the community, it is recommended that you wear a mask and use all precautionary measures to keep yourself safe,” Audu said.

He further said that washing of hands regularly, practising social distancing and avoiding social gatherings were keys to staying safe amid COVID-19.

He urged members of the association and residents to bear a little more of the hardship that trailed the COVID-19 battle, as it would soon be over.

Audu said that the state government was doing everything possible to mitigate further spread of the virus in the state and would not do it alone except with the cooperation of the people.

“Government needs the cooperation of the people to obey the stay-at-home order and adhere strictly to the safety guidelines to reduce the spread of the pandemic,” he said.

He also urged residents to cooperate with the task force teams that had been stationed at strategic points in the state to ensure compliance and to also avoid harassment.

Audu, however, commended compliance with the lockdown order and the willingness of residents to acquire the nose masks, which was announced as one of the guidelines if people must venture out of their homes to buy food or medicines.

He applauded stakeholders in the state who had supported the government in its battle against further spread of the deadly virus. (NAN)
