The Kano State Road Traffic Agency(KAROTA) has banned car racing and underage driving throughout the state during Eid-el-Fitr celebration, warning that anyone caught will face the full wrath of the law.
The agency which said it has posted over 1,500 personnel to man nock and crannies of the state roads during forthcoming Sallah celebration, noted that car racing especially during festive seasons posed serious threat to the safety and wellbeing of citizens.
Nabilusi Abubakar Kofar Na’isa, Public Relations Officer KAROTA said the act of entrusting underage children cars by their parents is worrisome hence the decision of the agency to arret any underage driver found flying the roads during Sallah celebration.

“Similarly, KAROTA is sounding strong warning to those racing cars that it will not condone thus act as anyone found wanting will be arrested and prosecuted. We are also calling on parents to desist from giving their underage children cars to drive, this may cause accidents and traffic jam”, said Nabilus.The traffic agency also said it will not condone learners carrying many passengers on their vehicles during festive seasons, saying that anyone learning how to drive should refrain from the roads.
