Former Bauchi governor was misled to go to court—group

A head of supreme court’s judgement on the Bauchi state governorship election between the incumbent governor Bala Mohammed of the PDP and the former governor Mohammed Abubakar of the APC, a pressure group in the state known as ‘ Concerned Citizens of Bauchi state’ says former governor Abubakar was misled in challenging Bala’s victory.

Secretary of the group Comrade Aliyu Ladan while addressing journalists in Bauchi state says “it may interest you to know that the first person to congratulate Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed for winning the governorship election was the former governor in person of Barrister Mohammed Abubakar, but unfortunately, he was later misled by mischief makers who doesn’t mean anything good for our state, that he should take the matter to the court in order to challenge the entire exercise and the process that produced Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed as the winner”.

Comrade Aliyu Ladan who appealed to the seven men judges to discharge their constitutional responsibility diligently for the overall interest of the nation also called on President Muhammadu Buhari to deal decisively with any attempt by some individuals to tamper with justice that may bring crises in the country during the judgement.

“The entire good people of Bauchi state are law abiding citizens as it was observed during the 2019 general elections, I’m appealing to the apex court judges to discard any false and fabricated information concerning the invalidity of the Bauchi state election and thereby reaffirm our dynamic and most focused governor Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed as a true democratically elected governor of Bauchi state.

“We want to assure Nigerians that we will emerge victorious in the Supreme Court God’s willing and this victory will still be celebrated as it was done during the first declaration by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) immediately after the final coalition of the supplementary election in the state”, he concludes.
