FRCN broadcaster killed in Adamawa

Maxwell Nashion a broadcaster with Radio Nigeria Fombina FM Yola has been killed in Adamawa.

The culprits and reasons for his killing were yet to be established.

LEADERSHIP reports that the Adamawa state Council of the Nigerian Union of Journalist (NUJ), has condemned the killing.

Comrade, Ishaka Dedan, state chairman of the council described the brutal killings as  unpardonable injury meted  on the union.

“NUJ condoles the family of the deceased, management and staff of the FRCN Fombina FMC Yola over the sad incident.”

The council called on security agencies to beef up measures that would, stem the tide of increasing insecurity, especially kidnapping and armed robbery in the state.

Mr Fidelis Jockthan, a colleague who also doubles as Secretary of NUJ, disclosed that, the deceased who was planning to marry was picked by his assailants at his resident in Lainde Badirisa in Girei LGA of the state.

“The assailants did not take anything from his house, they whisked him away, tied up his hands, and blind folded his eye and drop him unconscious near our station.

“Some women going to farm saw him and reported to Civil Defence operatives at the station who rushed him to hospital where he later died”.

DSP Suleiman Yahaya, Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), said the killers would be apprehended and brought to justice.
