Gombe Govt Earmarks N10b For 17 Township Roads

Engineer Abubakar Bappah, the Gombe State Commissioner of Works and Transportation, said the State Executive Council (SEC) has approved not less than N10 billion for the constitution of 17 township roads within the Gombe metropolis.

He added that the fund would also cover the rehabilitation of washed-out roads across the state.

Bappa revealed this to journalists on Monday, shortly after the SEC meeting held at the Government House Council Chambers, and chaired by Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya.

While N8.8 billion was earmarked for the construction of the roads, N1.2 billion was approved for the emergency repairs of the damaged roads.

The Commissioner argued that the township road projects would link areas like Kagarawal, Pantami/Gabukka, the old GRA and the Civil Service Commission’s office to Science Secondary School, Gombe, and Shongo, among other metropolitan locations in the state capital.

Governor Yahaya in 2021 compensated 309 landlords whose properties would be affected by the road construction to the tune of N381 million.
