Gov Bala blows hot: Threatens to sack traditional rulers aiding criminal activities

Bauchi State Governor Bala Muhammed says his government will sack any traditional ruler found aiding and abetting criminal activities in his domain.

The governor who was speaking to members of the State Council of Chiefs led by the Emir of Bauchi, Alhaji Rilwanu Sulaiman Adamu, emphasised that his administration will not take it lightly with any one trying to compromise the security of the state.

He claimed that armed robbers and kidnappers displaced from the neighbouring states had attacked innocent citizens in three local government areas of the state, though he gave no specific detail of the incidents.

“Government cannot condone any traditional ruler who connives with criminals to terrorise innocent citizens of the state,” he said.

He promised to work with traditional institutions and other relevant agencies to prevent criminals from flooding the state.

The Emir of Bauchi Rilwanu Suleiman Adamu had earlier said their visit was to congratulate the governor on his victory at the election petition tribunal and reassure him of their support for the development of the state.
