Gunmen Abduct Monarch in Kaduna

Suspected bandits have abducted the District Head of Kujama in Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State, Steven Ibrahim, and two other persons.

A member of Joint Task Force in the state confirmed the incident, saying: “the place where the incident happened was behind the Bethel Baptist School and the incident happened around 7pm on Sunday. People around the Anguwar Ayaba community said they saw them being conveyed on their (bandits) motorcycles into the bush.”

Also, Ardon Ardodi of Chikun Local Government, Ibrahim Saleh, described the incident as unfortunate while confirming the abduction of the district head to Daily Trust.

“It’s true our district head was abducted. Very unfortunate and may God bring an end to such incidents,” he said.

Despite the attack, the Nigerian Army confirmed on Wednesday that it had recorded success against bandits in Chikun and Kajuru Local Government Areas of Kaduna State after killing one bandit and recovering different weapons

“In its effort to clear bandits, terrorists and other criminal elements from Kaduna forests, troops of 1 Division Nigerian Army acting on credible intelligence laid ambush on bandits arms and ammunition supplier at Chikun and Kajuru Local Government Areas of Kaduna State along road Kwant – Kabai – Kubusu on 14 November 2023,” it said.

The whereabouts of the district head and the other two abducted individuals remain unknown as Kaduna continues to witness spate of violence in the country.

Efforts to reach Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) for Kaduna Police Command, Mansir Hassan proved abortive as he did not respond to an enquiry sent to him.
