Data from StatiSence, a private data hub in Nigeria, show that over 50% of Hausa and Fulani married women between age 20 and 24 have husbands or partners at least 10 years older than them.
The data show that 56.1% of Hausa women have husbands with at least 10 years older while Fulani: 50.8%, Kanuri: 48.9%, Igbo: 34.5%, Tiv: 30.0%, Ibibio: 29.1%, Yoruba: 29.0% and Ijaw: 26.4%.

The data obtained from the 2021 Multiple Indicator Cluster Surveys (MICS), further explained that 2.1% of Kanuri women of the same 20-24 years range have younger husbands.
Ijaw has 5.0%, Hausa: 4.2%, Tiv: 3.6%, Kanuri: 2.1%, Fulani: 1.8%, Igbo: 1.3%, and Yoruba have 0.2% women with younger husbands.
