Hijab-wearing Bandits kidnap Zamfara Gold Merchant

On Monday, bandits dressed in hijab (a veil for Muslim women) abducted Haji Isiya, a popular Zamfara-based gold merchant.

Local sources told PRNigeria the armed bandits invaded the merchant’s house around 9:30 and 10 pm, on Monday, at Hayi area of Maru Local Local Government.

According to the source, the bandits, after arriving in the town in a convoy of three motorcycles, went straight to the businessman’s house and whisked him away.

“After invading Haji Isiya’s residence, they thereafter abducted him before any intervention could come from the security personnel”.

“The armed bandits, who were dressed in Hijab, left immediately with Isiya, and were reported to have been seen at Karakkai axis. Only God knows where they eventually took him.

“But security agencies have already launched an investigation into the incident. They will surely facilitate his rescue,” the source said.

In Maru LGA of Zamfara, a Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Kazeem Raheem, was killed when he attempted to repel an attack by the bandits. Earlier, Bangudu LGA also experienced the killings of locals and police officers.

The DPO was was killed in a gunfight alongside a police sergeant and a vigilante. He had mobilised his men to foil an attempt by the criminals to kidnap a businessman in the area.

When WikkiTimes contacted, Yazid Abubakar, spokesman for Zamfara Police Command, said he is not aware of the incident, adding he travelled but will inquire and get back.
