In Katsina, Lawmaker Manipulated Constituency Project to Benefit Loyalists

The sum of N40 million was secured for a constituency project in Bindawa/Mani federal constituency, Katsina State, but the project was politicised to favour Aminu Ashiru Mani, a lawmaker representing the constituency, according to Tracka, a public project monitoring platform in Nigeria.

The N40 million was released for purchase of 55 motorcycles for youths in the constituency. However, they were distributed to some selected village heads and party loyalists as “empowerment.”

“We reiterate that constituency projects should not be labelled as donations by community representatives in the National Assembly; this is a malicious attempt at deliberately misinforming their constituents, for selfish political interests,” it added.

When WikkiTimes contacted the lawmaker, his number was not reachable. However, a text sent to him had not been responded to at press time.
