In This Kano Community, Locals Depend on Clayed Pit for Water

For a while, locals in Babangida village, Rogo Local Government Area of Kano State had no access to clean water, they depend on a clayed pit dug somewhere in the village.

In a video shared on Twitter by Mustapha Muhammad Baba, the founder of Water the Needy Foundation [a not-for-profit organisation spearheading well construction projects in Nigerian remote areas], residents of the village could be seen scooping unclean water from the pit.

One of the villagers, a dark-skinned man who spoke to agents of the foundation, said they had to dig the pit sometimes before they could get water.

“We are seeking for help from you guys and other individuals who can help. As you can see, we have to dig the ground in order to get water to drink, cook and do other things and that’s why we are pleading with you guys to help us just as the Almighty has helped you guys too,” he said.

However, the foundation promised to build a well for them.

“We were at Babangida village, Rogo LGA, Kano State and we have commenced building of a well for them to ease their suffering in shaa Allah, May Almighty Allah make it a successful one. Ameen. #Buildawell,” he tweeted.
