Judge Makes U-Turn, Revokes Bail of Plateau Organ Harvester

Joseph Chollom, the presiding judge of the magistrate’s court in Jos Metropolitan Development Board (JMDB) has revoked the bail he earlier granted to Dr Noah Kekere, an alleged organ harvester.

Dr Kekere, a private medical practitioner at Murna Clinic and Maternity located in Yanshanu community, was granted bail on Tuesday by the same judge, Chollom.

WikkiTimes reports that Dr Noah Kerekere was arrested on September 6, for allegedly removing the right kidney of Mrs Kehinde Kamal in Jos, the Plateau State capital.

Besides Kekere, two other medical doctors were arrested in connection with the alleged harvest of vital human organs by the suspected quack doctor.

Daily Trust reports that the bail did not go down well with the victims and the community where the Murna Clinic and Maternity is located.

The victim’s family resorted to petitioning the state government over the decision of the magistrate.

Both the police command and the state Ministry of Justice said they were not aware of the bail.

On Wednesday, October 11, the permanent secretary of the Ministry of Justice, Mr. Joel Tahvan accused the magistrate of complicity, explaining that the bail was granted without prosecution.

However, on Thursday, October 12, Chollom revoked the bail after Kekere was re-arrested and brought to the court by the police.

He explained that the court had revoked the bail already granted to Kekere and ordered his remand.
